Spruill becomes first female detention officer lieutenant in New Hanover County

Lt. Spruill has become the first female detention officer lieutenant in the history of the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, the agency announced.

Spruill has served with the Wilmington-area sheriff’s office for approximately 21 years. In her role, she leads a detention squad and supports the agency’s detention operations.

The sheriff’s office also published a video interview with Spruill about her career.
