Sheriff's Office Searches for Missing Man Last Seen Near Beach Access

The New Hanover County Sheriff's Office is searching for a 39-year-old man who was last seen near a beach access point in Wilmington on May 24, 2026.

Jared Urson Wheeler was last seen at 8 Bayberry Pl, near a beach access area along the ocean. He was reportedly wearing brown swim trunks, dark shorts, and no shirt at the time of his disappearance.

Wheeler is described as a white male, 6 feet 4 inches tall, weighing approximately 275 pounds, with an average build, blue eyes, and a bald head. Authorities reported no distinguishing marks or tattoos.
