Wilmington Officers Attend N.C. Peace Officer's Memorial in Greensboro

Members of the Wilmington Police Department attended the North Carolina Peace Officer's Memorial in Greensboro on Thursday. Capt. Ingram, Lt. T. Williams of the Honor Guard, Lt. S. Boucher, and the WPD Pipes and Drums Band represented the department at the ceremony.

During the memorial, Governor Josh Stein and Attorney General Jeff Jackson recognized the sacrifice of Officer Adrian Newton. Newton died following a heart attack after pursuing and struggling with a fleeing suspect on July 18, 1936.

The annual memorial honors North Carolina law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty.
