Williston Students Receive Visit After Winning NHCS Black History Bowl

Students at Williston Middle School in Wilmington received a visit from Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Alex Highsmith to mark their win as the 2026 New Hanover County Schools Black History Bowl champions.

Highsmith and Sam Highsmith visited the school on behalf of the Alex Highsmith Family Foundation, which focuses on fitness, education, and community engagement. The visit was intended to recognize the students for their achievement in the district-wide competition.

New Hanover County Schools acknowledged the foundation as a community partner of the district.
