Teresa "Terri" (Kennedy) Rau, a devoted mother, sister, and friend, passed away on April 9, 2026, in Jacksonville, NC, at the age of 64. Born on November 11, 1961, in Bradford, PA, Terri lived a life filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Terri spent most of her life years in Rixford, PA. A graduate of BOCES in Olean, NY, she went on to dedicate her career to caring for others as an LPN at St. Elizabeth's Mother House. Her career was marked by her unwavering commitment to caring for others, a true testament to her nurturing spirit.
A woman of many talents, Terri was happiest when surrounded by nature, whether camping, hiking, or simply enjoying the great outdoors. She was an avid flower gardener, almost as much as she was a Buffalo Bills fan.
Terri enjoyed family gatherings; she had a knack for making every holiday gathering a memorable event, full of gifts to give others. She was known for making her father’s spaghetti sauce, a recipe that brought family and friends together around the table.
Later in life, she relocated to Jacksonville, NC, to be closer to her family. Her strong will and direct nature were balanced by a deep determination and an open-hearted approach to those she loved.
Terri is survived by her loving daughters, Tera Malgadey (Drew Malgadey) and Jennifer Malone (Justin Childs) both of Jacksonville; her son, William Malone of Knapp Creek, NY; and her cherished grandchildren, Roman King, Dominic Malgadey, and Landon Childs.
Her sisters, Carol Calvert (Jim) of Jacksonville and Christine Allen (Tom) of Ogdensburg, PA; her brother, Butch Kennedy of Sheridan, WY will miss her dearly, as will her cousins who were like brothers to include: Rick Bells, Charlie Bells (Lori), Brian Bells (Michelle) and John Bells (Meitty).
She is also survived by her nieces, Nicole Morton (Mike), Kari Fritts (Cory) Jenna Allen and Ashley Deese; nephews, Jason Shunk (Leah) and Cole Kennedy; as well as several loved great-nieces and great-nephews who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Terri was preceded in death by her father, Alfred "Roy" Kennedy; her mother, Verena Bowen; her Aunt Verna Frampton; and her beloved yorkie-poo, Stevie, who was more child than dog.
Terri's services will be held at a later date, giving everyone ample time to gather their favorite stories and prepare to celebrate a life well-lived. In the meantime, let us remember Terri as she was: direct, family-oriented, and a caretaker to all. Her spirit will live on in the gardens she tended, the meals she lovingly prepared, and the family she adored.
Rest easy, Terri, knowing you were loved beyond measure and will be missed more than words can say.
