February 24, 2026
A quarterly survey conducted by Live Oak Bank, headquartered in Wilmington, NC, found that 60% of small business owners who expect to seek additional credit intend to use it for working capital purposes.
The findings were published as part of the bank's BusinessPulse report, a recurring research initiative that tracks sentiment and financial trends among small business owners.
Working capital — funds used to cover day-to-day operational expenses — topped the list of planned uses for credit among the surveyed business owners, according to the report.
